Simplicity is at the Heart
Life-skills, decision-making skills, problem-solving skills, job skills and business skills are all about making complex things simple.
Simplicity is at the heart of all things.
A person who can't do this even to a certain minimum extent, will basically not be needed anymore as companies and people would rather do away with him/her.
To close this, Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, "I wouldn't give a fig for the simplicity on this side of complexity, but I would give my right arm for the simplicity on the far side of complexity."
So life and work are all about making complex things simpler....
So your work and life's work then is, just to make complex things simple for yourself and everyone around....
and what more, 'You even get rewarded & paid for doing it' :)
Most of the time in this information age, the way it is done, i.e. the way to go about it is to negate all the unwanted information we are bombarded with from all sides and corners of the world.
Leadership tycoon Warren Bennis once said, “We seem to collect information because we have the ability to do so, but we are so busy collecting it that we haven’t devised a means of using it.
The true measure of any society is not what it knows but what it does with what it knows.”
The question then is to ask ourselves -
"What do we do with the things we already know??"
"What are we doing??"
"Are we really using it or taking things for granted or ignoring them to such an extent that we, at times have to recall such skills and info back into existence??"
"Are we spending most of our time over the internet and newspaper, magazines, text-books and novels soaking-in useless, meaningless and irrelevant information??"
"Just because we have nothing better to do?? Or we are yet to learn how to spend our time and yet to figure out how to plan our activities productively??"
This usually happens while we are busy in the pursuit of meaningless and futile activities.
It has been proven that 80% of our work is useless and unimportant. And only the remaining 20% is fruitful work which gives us result. So we are basically wasting 80% of our time in all that we do.
Accelerated learning is what we need. It is the need of the moment.
And the required Resilience and the Strength of Character to enable it.
